Phillips Law Firm has dedicated many years to advocacy on behalf of families overcoming serious car accidents. Beginning this year, our personal injury lawyers want to extend that advocacy to students who’ve survived the unthinkable.
Our team invites undergraduate and graduate students who’ve experienced a traumatic car accident to apply for our A Second Chance Scholarship. This scholarship promises $2,500 to a student who can create a video sharing the story of their accident and examples of how that accident shaped their future working prospects.
Students have until July 15, 2025, to submit their scholarship videos for the firm’s consideration.
Application Requirements
Students interested in applying for the A Second Chance Scholarship must prove that they’re enrolled in or accepted at an accredited college, university, or graduate school in the United States. Students must also submit evidence that, at some point in their lives, they were involved in a traumatic car accident.
So long as applicants meet these criteria, submit all necessary application materials, and agree to the scholarship’s terms and conditions, they’ll find themselves included in the applicant pool.
Phillips Law Firm reminds students that they must fill out the application form on this page and add the URL link to their unlisted video essays by July 15, 2025, if they want to qualify for the scholarship’s $2,500 reward.
Scholarship Video Topic
Our scholarship selection committee wants students who’ve overcome traumatic car accidents to create videos up to three minutes in length discussing:
- How a car accident influenced their everyday lives
- How a car accident changed an applicant’s plans for the future
We ask students to please record their videos in well-lit areas while holding their recording device of choice as still as possible. We also encourage applicants to minimize external noises to preserve their audio quality.
Students should mention their full name and the name of the A Second Chance Scholarship at the start of their video. After recording, we encourage students to use media editing tools and copyright-free content to add to their videos’ visual appeal.
Students may use AI to generate B-roll for their videos but cannot use AI to write their scripts, falsify evidence of a car accident, create fake characters for their videos, or modify their voices. The inappropriate use of AI in a scholarship application will see a student automatically removed from the applicant pool.
Scholarship Deadline
Students have until July 15, 2025, to submit their complete applications to Phillips Law Firm’s scholarship selection committee. Applicants can use the scholarship application form available on the firm’s website to complete their applications.
After the scholarship deadline passes, the scholarship selection committee will take between one and three months to view students’ applications. Phillips Law Firm cannot accept messages, phone calls, or other communications asking for an update on a student’s application during this time period.
We ask that neither applicants nor their families reach out to the firm with questions about their scholarship applications.

Selection & Award Notification Process
The scholarship selection committee cannot consider applications submitted without all essential materials or submitted after the deadline passes. We ask that any students interested in applying for the A Second Chance Scholarship double-check their applications before submitting their materials for the team’s consideration.
The team reserves between one and three months to select a winner from its applicant pool. Age, race, religion, gender, national origin, familial status, or other protected classes will have no influence on the committee’s decision.
Please do not reach out to Phillips Law Firm for an update on the status of a student’s scholarship application. We cannot answer questions regarding students’ applications, nor can we provide individual notifications to non-winners.
Students can keep an eye on Phillips Law Firm’s website and social media for an announcement declaring its first A Second Chance Scholarship winner. We’ll share more information about the winner’s achievements through a blog post and press release. We’ll then mail the winner’s winnings to the institution of their choosing.
Previous Winners
Phillips Law Firm and its team look forward to celebrating the achievements of future scholarship winners here. We’ll share information about our future winners’ achievements(possibly including yours!) and videos through press releases and blog posts.
